The Weinviertel ("wine quarter") is an area in the northeast of Lower Austria, close to the capital Vienna. It is characterized by gentle rolling hills and many vineyards.

The photos show a three day, 75 km hike from the outskirts of Vienna to the picturesque town of Retz, close to the Czech border. May 2012.
